The Remodeling Process, from Start to Finish
Step 1. The Decision. You have decided that your project is going to improve significantly your quality of life for you and your family and the budget you have decided on for the space you are remodeling is one that you can recoup when you decide to sell the house.
Step 2. Research for ideas. There are so many resources available for you. Some of the sites our clients use are Pinterest, HGTV, various websites and magazines. Take a look at your neighbor’s homes and friends as well. You can get ideas of what you want including color palates, cabinets, flooring, appliances and the list goes on and on. Just remember not to get overwhelmed.
Step 3. Know your budget. Make sure you talk to your financial institution and secure a pre-approved loan if needed. Make sure that you account for 10% for contingencies to the project. There are quite often un-foreseen expenses that will arise and you want to be prepared.

Where to start?
Your Decision to remodel your home, weather it is the kitchen, bath, basement, additions or general interior renovations, can be a daunting task. You will have to make a lot of choices and you will need a lot of support and hand holding along the way.
Step 4. Initial contact with us. When you call our office, we will take all of your contact information and gather as many details about your project as possible in order to be completely prepared for our initial appointment.
Step 5. The initial appointment. Make sure all decision makers attend the appointment so that we can discuss in detail your needs, project investment, past experiences and expectations. We will introduce how we work with our clients, draw sketches of the project, take field notes and measurements as well as making a list, if necessary of various trades that also need to visit to ensure a detailed proposal can be built for you.
Step 6. The Design Stage and building you proposal. During this step, we will walk you through each step of material selections. You will have met with a kitchen designer if you are renovating your kitchen and plans will be drawn for you. You can visit our showrooms and we will send you links to help you with selections such as plumbing and electrical fixtures. We make recommendations for you based on how you live your lives as well as how you want your home to perform. We listen carefully to your wants, needs and desires, at the same time always keeping in mind that you have a budget that we need to keep your project within. How long this process takes depends on a lot of things. Example, how large is the project and how quickly you can make decisions.
Step 7. Contract Acceptance and Pre-Construction Meeting. Now that you have your proposal and everything looks good, we can ratify your contract to remodel. Our project manager will meet with you before construction begins. This is their opportunity to become familiar with the project and set the expectations as well as answer any questions you may have.
Step 8. Construction. This is the fun part. Now you can sit back and the let the project happen. Our team will make sure your home is projected from construction debris and dust as well as provide a safe environment. We will clean up every day and you will see measurable progress on a daily basis. We will also let you know as soon as possible if we uncover any unforeseen construction issues. If a change order is needed during the construction phase, we will draw it up immediately for your authorization. Remember, all change orders must be in writing and signed by you.
Step 9. Substantial completion and walk through. On the substantial completion day, we will have a walk-through with you and create a final punch list of items that may need to be completed or corrected. It is always our goal to be 100% complete at this point as we work hard throughout the project to make sure every detail is covered.
Step 10. The project is done!!!!! Everyone is happy and as you look back on the process, you know everything was worth it. We appreciate the opportunity to have worked with you and we look forward to helping you with your next project.
