JLG Builds on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
While working for Somerset Homes, Jim was the Vice President of the Company, and Bonnie was the Sales & Marketing Director. On August 20, 2005, Somerset Homes, along with hundreds of workers, volunteers and spectators, proudly joined the team from Extreme Makeover: Home Edition as they presented a Brand new home to Veronica Ginyard and her eight children.
“We were so proud to be a part of making a dream become a reality in just 7 days!”
“It was an amazing experience to be a part of a wonderful gift to a very deserving family. This was the good deed of the century.”
“This was truly an Emotional and Extreme Experience and we loved every minute of it. The memories of this event will last a lifetime and we were proud to be a part of it.”
Bonnie was in charge of coordinating three meals a day for all of the volunteers. She reached out to several area restaurants for their help. Chick-fil-A of Waldorf, Chicken Out Rotisserie, Hooters Restaurants, Jaspers, Ledo Pizza, TGI Friday’s and Starbucks Coffee all gladly volunteered their time and food for this major event when she asked. Jim oversaw the construction and maintained quality control as we worked nonstop to beat the deadline.
It was quite a scene. More than 100 companies and 500-600 daily volunteers were working around the clock to build the Ginyards a new home. Somerset Homes relied solely on its own employees for the planning of this enormous project and took almost 6 months before day one of the construction.
